The firm
A deal origination firm on the West Africa ↔ World corridor.
AFROPORTUNITY connects the holders of mining, infrastructure and energy assets in West Africa with investors, EPC contractors, traders and family offices worldwide. Under written mandate, with an NCNDA as standard and KYC on both parties.
Three sectors, five offices, one method applied to every file.
- Origin of the assets
- Guinea, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso
- Origin of the capital
- Europe, North America and the Gulf
- Sectors covered
- Mining, infrastructure, energy
Purpose
The obstacle is almost never the money, nor the deposit.
International capital is looking for real assets. West Africa produces them: mining permits being taken towards development, terminals and logistics corridors still to be built, generation capacity to be installed as close as possible to industrial sites. What is missing in between is neither the funding nor the resource. It is trust, and trust cannot be decreed.
An investor who receives ten approaches a week, with no verifiable mandate, no title available for inspection and no identifiable counterpart, reviews none of them. A project holder approached by twenty intermediaries in succession, with nothing to show for it, eventually stops documenting the asset. Both are right to be wary, and nothing happens.
AFROPORTUNITY exists to close that gap through method rather than through a contact book. The mandate is in writing before the first meaningful call. The NCNDA is signed before any name is disclosed. Both parties go through the same KYC. Information is released in stages, each one conditional on a commitment. It is slower at the outset: it is the only way to be taken seriously at the close.
Connecting capital, contractors and resources — under mandate, and strictly on the terms of that mandate.
Positioning
One corridor, not a global directory.
We work a single, defined axis and decline whatever falls outside it. On the origination side, four countries where the title regime, the counterparts and the logistics are genuinely known to us. On the capital side, Europe, North America and the Gulf, where long-term commitments to real assets are decided.
Five offices along the axis.
Each office holds a distinct link in the chain, from origination of the file through to the structuring of the transaction.
Conakry
Guinea
Mining origination
Bauxite, iron ore, gold. Entry point for mining files, permit holders and the public-sector counterparts of the industry.
Dakar
Senegal
Energy and infrastructure
Independent power production, grids and port infrastructure. Access to the developers and lenders active in the country.
Abidjan
Côte d’Ivoire
Logistics and structuring
Port terminals and mineral logistics, and the transit corridor that serves the landlocked hinterland. The regional centre where transactions are structured.
Ouagadougou
Burkina Faso
Gold origination
Gold permits and the holders who work them. The country is landlocked: its ore and its inputs transit through Abidjan, where we also hold an office.
Dubai
United Arab Emirates
Head office and capital market
The firm's registered office. Investors, traders, off-takers and EPC contractors: where the corridor meets the Gulf capital market.
Five offices hold the corridor: the four above for West African origination, and Dubai, the registered office, for the Gulf capital market. Europe and North America are markets where we place files, covered by travel and by correspondents — not places where we are established.
Method
Five rules that are not up for negotiation.
They apply to every file, whatever its size and whatever the standing of the counterparty.
Mandate first
No work without a written mandate. Scope, territory, term, exclusivity, fee and tail period are agreed before the first meaningful call.
Verify both sides
The project holder and the investor go through the same KYC. A counterparty that refuses to be verified sees no file.
Sequence the information
Information is released in stages, each one conditional on a written commitment. Nothing is handed over in one block, ever.
Know when to say no
A contested title, an opaque ownership chain or a source of funds that cannot be established closes the file, however large it is.
Put in writing what is said
A written record after every exchange, with the supporting documents placed on file. A transaction is defended on documents, not on recollections.
Scope
What we do, and what we do not do.
A useful introducer is one whose role is clearly bounded. What follows forms part of our mandates, and is restated to each party.
What we do
- Source and qualify mining, infrastructure and energy assets along the corridor.
- Source counterparties: international investors, EPC contractors, traders, offtakers, family offices.
- Structure the contractual framework of the introduction: mandate, NCNDA, staged release of information.
- Run KYC on both parties and assemble a compliance file that will stand up to scrutiny.
- Support the discussions through to signature: coordination, written records, follow-up on blocking points.
- Arrange face-to-face meetings on the corridor and with international counterparties, site visits included.
What we do not do
- No investment advice and no regulated financial recommendation.
- No asset management, no discretionary mandate, no collection of savings.
- No banking intermediation, no payment services, no holding of funds on behalf of third parties.
- No guarantee of financing, of return, of valuation or of timing.
- No legal representation: legal, tax and technical advice remains that of the parties’ own advisers.
- No advance of funds requested, granted or carried, under any heading whatsoever.
Where a file calls for a regulated service, we say so and refer the parties to a licensed professional. Our role stops where theirs begins.
